Bio: Octavio Posada
MPH, BSW, CHWII

With more than 20 years of experience in the social services and public health fields, Octavio moved from New York to Nevada in 2014 to continue his passion and commitment to serving in various roles within the community.
While in New York, in his role as a Case Manager working with People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), Octavio experienced first-hand the lack of resources and barriers PLWHA and other minority and underserved groups faced.
As the Head of Consulting for Community Health Consulting (CHC), Octavio’s efforts are toward equity-driven policy research, capacity building, and fostering collaboration among community-based organizations, stakeholders, and elected officials to expand efforts, reach, and engagement within minority groups underrepresented communities.
Additionally, Octavio is a Bilingual Instructor for the Nevada Community Health Worker Association. In this role, Octavio teaches and helps develop a curriculum to assist students in the mastery of core competencies such as case management, social determinants of health, community capacity building, cultural competence, and community engagement.
Octavio earned his Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) with a minor in Gerontology. In 2020, also at UNLV, Octavio earned a Master’s in Public Health degree with a Social and Behavioral Health concentration. Octavio is actively engaged with many organizations and groups addressing social services, public health, and aging. Octavio can be seen on the sidelines coaching youth soccer or cycling around town in his spare time.
