Build Your Own Bird Feeder Aug 9th

Silver City, Nevada – The next STEM + Arts event in Healthy Communities Coalition’s summer program for kids and their parents is Tues. Aug. 9 at 10am with Lisa Taylor, County Educator with University Nevada Cooperative Extension. During a “Renew, Re-use, Recycle” activity, children and their parents will make their own bird feeders, created with recycled materials. Lisa will explain the benefits of re-using or repurposing to reduce waste. She’ll also provide a bit of interesting information about birds and the fascinating role they play as pollinators.

What is the STEM + Arts = STEAM Program?

The free summer STEAM summer activities (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) got its start in 2004. The Tuesday morning portion of the summer STEAM program is organized by Healthy Communities and the program is open to all. Guest teachers are experts in their fields who come from many different organizations such as FIRST Nevada, United Way, Society of Women Engineers, UNCE, the Resident Artist Program in Silver City, etc.
