Health Fair in Silver Springs on April 11th Includes Many Free and Low Cost Services

Silver Springs, Nevada – There will be a “Spring into Health Fair” for the public on Saturday, April 11th between 10am-4pm at the Silver Stage High School. People of all ages are invited to attend.

Services offered will include free child development and mental health screenings with referrals, free Shingle and Tdap vaccines, general exams, fitness and nutrition counseling, information about the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, STD testing and risk reduction counseling, and HIV tests with instant results.

A few services at the health fair involve small fees. Sports physicals will be available for a low cost. And for only $12, Renown will offer a complete blood count (CBC). No fasting is required. This blood test measures the concentration of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets in the blood and helps diagnose conditions such as anemia, polycythemia, allergies, asthma, infection, and many other disorders.

Employment, Wellness, and Volunteer Information: The fair will also include information on diabetes, good nutrition, and tobacco and other drug use prevention and treatment referrals, as well as booths highlighting opportunities for job skills training, employment, summer internships, volunteer service and more.

The fair is sponsored by the nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey in partnership with Lyon School District and many direct service groups and agencies, including Carson City Health and Human Services, Lyon County Human Services, Community Health Nursing in Lyon County, Community Chest Inc, Renown, and many others.
For more information about the Fair, please call (775) 350-4597.

Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite superheroes. All proceeds for the event go toward Stand Tall’s annual scholarship.
