Second chance for ASQ training in Dayton, Nevada on March 25th

More details

The Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties has received funding to support early childhood social and emotional learning opportunities for young children ages 0-5 years, their families, and their caregivers. This includes caregivers working at licensed community-based child care centers as well as home-based child caregivers.

We’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to a free training we will be delivering for individuals who work with children 0-five years of age. Included in this group are our Healthy Families Nevada home visitors, our new school-based Resource Coordinators, our Community Health Workers, Lyon County Human Services WIC staff and our Community Health Nurses.

The training is designed to help those who work with young children assess their development and identify whether they have significant social and emotional delays that will require additional support and follow-up.

The assessment tool in which everyone will be trained is called “Ages and Stages Questionnaire” or the ASQ. In addition, we will provide training in the ASQ-SE, which is designed to go more deeply into assessing social and emotional learning and development.

Ideally, we’d love at least one and perhaps two of your staff to attend the training, particularly those who work with children 3-5 years who will be attending kindergarten in the next year or two. However, the training will include use of the tool for infants through five years of age. The training will be given to approximately 20-30 individuals and is offered at different times and locations:
